Our new Chairperson will need a clear understanding of The Charity Commission and the expectations of a board of trustees leading a charity. A good understanding of company law would be beneficial and the ability to think strategically to ensure that Beehive Care makes effective decisions to deliver the vision of our charity, whilst using funds efficiently.

We are looking for someone who has experience of being a Trustee, perhaps for some time and is looking either for career path development or a role in early retirement, having stepped down from a busy career.

Key factors of the role are:

  • Board-level leadership and governance
  • Strategic vision and sound independent judgement
  • Creative thinking and problem solving
  • An understanding of legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
  • A commitment to and passion for Beehive’s aims and objectives
  • Integrity, objectivity, accountability, honesty and leadership.

The responsibilities include:

  • Leading a monthly board meeting
  • Leading an AGM with the CEO, once per year
  • Participate in the Finance Sub Committee
  • Visit services
  • Correspond by email and make decisions between meetings.
  • Attend other activities and fundraising events.

Interested parties may drop their CV into our head office at 110 Ferring Street, BN12 5JP, or email a CV to hello@beehivecare.org.uk by end of December 2025.

Other voluntary roles

There are many potential voluntary roles to suit different personalities and skill sets. We can guarantee that you will find life exciting and that every day will be different!

We welcome caring volunteers with some time to spare who would like to come and spend time enhancing the lives of our residents. This could involve chatting with residents, helping out with gardening at our residential home or supported living accommodation, sharing your interests, skills, accompanying residents on short walks and befriending opportunities in the community.

We are always open to new ideas and suggestions to increase our range of activities.

Beehive Care is run by an Executive Committee consisting of Charity Trustees. Our volunteer Trustees come from many walks of life, but all share an interest in enhancing the quality of life for older people in a happy, supportive environment. They often enjoy the challenge of becoming involved in an organisation which is well integrated into the local community and interested in improving the lives of local older people.

If you would like to know more about becoming a trustee, please call 01903 240 313 for more details or download a description of the role here.
